Kick Tolerance Calculator
What is Kick Tolerance?
Kick tolerance is the maximum influx to equal the maximum allowable annulus surface pressure (MAASP).
Kick tolerance can be expressed as either the maximum intensity or, more commonly, the maximum influx volume that can be taken into the wellbore and subsequently circulated out without breaking down the formation. The volume that can be tolerated depends on the influx fluid type and intensity of the kick.
Kick intensity is the difference between the maximum anticipated pressure and the mud weight. The maximum anticipated pressure is the sum of the predicted pore pressure and the pore pressure uncertainty.

Formula:
The kick tolerance intensity is calculated using the formula:
Kick Tolerance Intensity = MFP + PPU - CMW
Variables:
- MFP: The maximum formation pressure (psi)
- PPU: The pore pressure uncertainty (ppg)
- CMW: The current mud weight (ppg)
